WHO WILL BE MY CHILDS TEACHER?
Sophie teaches all Swim Tot lessons. She believes consistency is a vital part of learning from a young age and by seeing the same teacher every week a relationship of trust can be fostered. Sophie has been fully qualified to STA standards since 2007 and in addition is a certified NPLQ lifeguard, attending monthly training courses to keep updated on the latest safety techniques.

WHEN CAN MY BABY START SWIMMING?
As soon as you feel ready and comfortable to. The official advice from the NHS is that a baby can start swimming at any time regardless of their immunisation status. It is important that you make up your own mind.

WHAT SHOULD MY BABY WEAR IN THE WATER?
We insist on a double nappy system until they are confidently potty trained; one disposable nappy, topped with a fabric washable neoprene nappy.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE CANT MAKE OUR LESSON?
Unavoidably you will occasionally miss your lesson. We like to be as flexible as we possibly can and so we allow you to swap into another days lesson subject to availability.

WHAT IF I CAN'T SWIM?
This is not a problem at all. All lessons take place in a pool where all adults are able to stand. In fact a lot of non-swimmers find that swimming in this way with their child inspires a greater water confidence themselves.

HOW DO I PAY FOR LESSONS?
Payments are made via bank transfer before the term starts. They are payable in term blocks and are calculated pro-rata if joining mid term. We believe Swim Tots provide true value and choosing Swim Tots is an investment in your child's future.

DO I HAVE TO SUBMERGE MY CHILD?
Absolutely not - The Swim Tots programme allows to give your child the choice; getting them to be comfortable and confident under the water is a vital part of their water journey. Swim Tots teaching methods are consistent with research developments in infant physiology and psychology; we use techniques to offer the safest way to submerge children so that they feel empowered and never forced.

DO I NEED TO BRING ARMBANDS?
No, Swim Tots want to teach your child to swim independently and how to be safe in the water. Their experience in lessons needs to be as realistic as possible and everything your child learns will be teaching them vital life-saving skills. Technique is also integrated into every level and by wearing armbands, the alignment required for independent swimming is unattainable.

HOW BIG ARE CLASS SIZES?
Class sizes are small to support every swimmer during the lesson. Lessons are taught in limited class sizes dependent on pool size and pool provider regulations.

MY BABY/CHILD ISN'T HAPPY IN THE WATER, SHOULD I STOP BRINGING THEM?
It is understandable that if your child cries a lot that you feel it is doing more harm than good. However, removing your baby from classes because they don't seem to enjoy it is more likely to instil a fear or dislike of water than working through it with them. We have vast experience of dealing with these cases and will work with you and your child so that we find activities they enjoy and move forward from there.
